ok rising juniors. Im about to lay down the laws for yall. you may have already heard a lot about Mrs. duke’s and hows it terrible. If you approach it from the learning aspect it will be one of the best classes you ever had. Throught the year we learned about literature in different time periods and how they affect todays literature. thats just an overview but we go deep inot those issue. we even wrote papers as if we were in that time through critical lenses.

In Mrs. Dukes class its not about how smart you are, or how fast you can read. its about your work ethic and acting like you care. Yes i did say Acting because if you act somethign out fro a long time, you will eventually become it. ( Fake it till you make it).  Paying attention in her class is the most important thing bottom line. If you dont you wont obtain all the important information that will reappear on test and you will miss out on the learning aspect. Just from participating in Mrs. Duke’s class im a Faster reader, better paper writer, and better in comprehension skills. I faked it till I made it and now I when I see an essay topic or short story and an Act test, I dont panic at all. Mrs. Dukes class isn’t a just write the paper and get an a class. You actually have to meet the guidlines included in the rubric and place your mind into it. Almost everything we do requires a depth of thought. Nothing is giving to you without a purpose. As the year progresses you will see how Mrs. Duke’s class will help you in so many ways. I feel very comfortable in a lot of situations that i wouldnt know what to say or do a year ago. You might think shes crazy for all the stuff you have to do but it all benefits you in the long run. Not from the work load stand point, but from the state of being confident enough to do anything. I used to absolutely hate reading but now its a piece of cake to me. So my quote for the day is, Fake it till you make it.

ok so this is the third reading of this little play. Rosencrantz and Guil’s characters are developing more as they speak. Hamlet isnt protrayed as much of an angry man in this play. I think this is done for a reason, putting the emphasis more on guil and Ros. Hamlet seems closer to them in this play then in the actual Hamlet. i think this is to show how Hamlet really thniks  of them when he’s not acting out. I also realize that the charcters have a sense of humor that dosen’t exist in Hamlet. Hamlet, Guil, and ros all joke around with each other. Its mostly ros thats cracks the jokes. Its probably not that relevant but it reveals character.

In the mean time, Ros and Guil want to know for themselves why Hamlet is mad. They think its love also because hamlet is good at hiding the truth. Ros and G have this conversation about life and death and i think its an important piece to this play even i dont quite understand the meaning. This will be a good discussion topic in class. One of the players makes a major stance in the play. he begins to lecture R and G about life and being an actor. He thinks its all ajoke and they cant be normal people. I find that this relates to Hamlet and acts as a foil. I think he is speaking of how Hamlet is himself. There’s alot of life lesson in this reading that stick out.

rhetorical analysis

attemp to paraphrase every line in to be or not to be speech:

He poses a question about to be or not  to be. Says whether its noble or not. The arrows have outrageous fortunes, causing a lot of trouble, but the eventually end. to die and have  no more pain. to sleep and have endless dreams. theres obstacles in sleep that may bring death. When we awake they come true. Theres things that makes us put up with unhapiness for a long time. suicide is an option to ending all of this. nobody wants to endure the effects of unhapiness , the bad guy’s wrongs, the proud man’s contumely, the drama of dequised love, the law conssequences, wrong doings of the heirarchy. We are all scared death because we know little of the afterlfe. When the king  solves his problems with a daggar, who would stand up and say something. the innocence of the dead, the mystery remains unsloved fro his country, no answers makes us allow the unhappiness, than to speak up to those who know of it. Our conscience maakes us all cowards. Our true colors are covered with thoughts, and the important events slip away and loose the focus of others. to interupt the fair ophelia, all his sins be forgiven.

1. Hamlet feels that it is  time for him to speak up and let his personal thoughts spill out. more people are catching on to his weird behavior and are plotting against him. So he does this to provide justification for how he has been acting. Hamlet is begining to become overwhelmed by all the pressures around him. Hamlets first audience is himself. He is confused and fustrated and debating on killing himself. he is the only who one who really knows his pain, so he is trying to assure himself. His secondary audience is the reader, he is ervealing to us all the madness in him. We get to see the whole picture of other characters so he uses us  like a godly figure to speak to about anything. once again the purpose of this speech is  aimed at allowing hamlet to get behind his thoughts and speak on them to the reader. Hamlets uses many appeals to concince his audience. (line 64) “To be or not to be”, grabs our attention and makes us think what he is getting at. (line 70) He expressed all the pain that build up and make him want to commit suicide. (line  78) He relates to us by saying that no one wants to bear all the bad things and events in life for a long period of time. (line 86) He creates the supspense of death and afterlife which we have no understanding of as humans.  Hamlets gives personification to arrows as people because we have outrageuous fortunes just as an arrow can land anywhere. He uses repition a few times to rub in important thoughts.

In a response, i think that hamlet is gaining a mental problem that he feels he must solve. He is becoming more like the people that pursue him like claudius and polonius. he has this one thing that bothers him and can’t get over it. His sympathy for his close ones is slowly decreasing as he becomes more possesed with his problems.

Ok so basically this Rosencrantz reading is an extension of Hamlet. It pretty much has the same plot but the characters act a little different. Ros and Guil are mirror images of each other just as they are in Hamlet. They think alike and are both loved by Hamlet. Just like in Hamlet, they are trying to figure out why hamlet is acting so ludacris. But in this play, they act out hamlet within the play. This is more intertextual evidence the author reveals. It is post modern because it shows the tendency of how man naturally act in certain situations.  There’s a lot of tension going on between Guil and Ros that seems parallel to Hamlet and Claudius. Everyone is begining to catch on to the idea of King hamlet being bumped off. Ros and Guil’s interest in his father’s death makes hamlet more intrested in them.

ROS and G

so far i find Rosencrantz kind of confusing but similar to hamlet. When the guys flip the coin they are taking a chance everytime they flip. It is very skeptical in which hamlet appears at the end. There is a struggle and tension between characters. This same aspect appears in hamlet. There is more than one conflict also. Ros and Guil have their problems, and the play guys have their issues with Ros and Guil. this book tries to follow the same path as hamlet but is different in its own way.

problems

hello world, this is a very turbulent time of the year for us students. With school closing to its end, we must turn in every assignment and know as much material possible for every test. Anyways thats not the problem. I just figured i could gain you attention with my emotions. Our coastal lands and marshes are in big trouble in louisiana. There’s this huge oil spill about the size of rhode island right in our backyard. Oozing its way through the gulf, the oil damages shrimp, fish, and crabs that are a huge part of our economy. more yet, our culture. everyone around knows about south louisiana cooking. we go hard in the paint. but with  the oil spill, our future in the seafood business is in turmoil and true fishermen’s’ lives will be destroyed. We will really need all the help we can get from the nation to help us save our waters. this is just as devastating to society as a hurricane.

drama

Drama can be more than one thing. I look at it as a form of literature written in scripts for plays. A play consists of multiple characters that follow a script. Every move they make is planned out. Some aspects of drama that come to my mind in first thought are, emotions, staging, acting, dialogue, live audience, etc. I took a drama class when i was in public school and i learned quiet a bit. We wrote plays and we had to act them out in front of the class. We were graded on tone, voice, and ability to capture the audience. A main figure in drama that pops up in my mind is Shakespeare. Apparently a lot of the stuff he said is used today. Costumes are important because they reflect the character. Drama isn’t only plays. they can be written in novel form also.

paper

My paper is coming along pretty well so far. I am discussing the archetypal hero in beowulf and perceval. I will be showing how the hero figure affects and impact society throughout their change. We fail to realize the underlying effects that a hero has on his society. Archetypal criticism is the view point of using the same characteristics or trends on characters in different myths, novels, and stories. I am reading some of the tales in the Canterbury tales through an Archetypal lens to get a better understanding.  I do understand that all heros have their differences but they still end up the same way at the end. They leave a certain mark on their society and I’m going to try and depict that.

Ok so the end of the school year is ending. Homework is getting more crucial every week because they are free points and you don’t want to rely on exams to push your grades up. Track is also at its peaks. We have the regional meet on the upcoming tuesday, this meet will qualify the top three finishers in each event fro state. Our region is pretty much the strongest so whatever place you finish in regions might be the same in state. I think its funny how my doctor thought i had a hernia but it was only a muscle strain. He almost had my season ended. Now I’m in a good position in regions to do something big. I won’t spoil it so you have to pay attention to what happens.

The school week after the Sadies dance marks the advent of spring break.  Unfortunately this year we are pretty much the only school out. But anyways we still have good proclivity towards it becasue we get to go to the beaches of Florida. We dont know where our domicile will be because we are more concerned with whos driving. Highscoolers are intinerant when it comes to vacations. Once we get to destin, we will scope out the scene and see whats going on. When it comes to to beach i have a phobia for jellyfish so i must be cautious. From to liliputians to the big daddies, all of them scare me. Walking around with shirt off makes me a noticeable bravado. Whens the girls start looking i can easily relegate the jellies. But as soon as stop worrying about them one might sting me making me queasy and induce vertigo.

Amnesia is a good thing to have if you posses certain phobias dont you think? You could expunge all the fears and just relax and have a great time. For the record im not actually scared of jellyfish. You probably want to sully me or upbraid me because i lied. Or maybe you just think im silly and wont sully me. Anyways, the beach is fun. I like getting sand in between my toes and running in the water defoiliating all the seaweed. There is verdant areas underwater you know. like coral reefs, marsh, etc. Although there is an attrition of the coral reef in certain areas. The library where im blogging right now is very appeased, so i get the sense that im on apeaceful beach right now. If the weather is bad in destin then that would be a debacle.
